Sheffield man accused of murdering woman faces crown court trial

Sheffield Crown Court heard on Thursday, September 10, how David Bestwick, aged 60, of Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, Sheffield, is accused of murdering a woman after an incident on September 6.
Richard Thyne, prosecuting, explained the matter was originally being dealt with as an alleged attempted murder but the woman has since died.

Hide AdThe defendant appeared at a magistrates’ court hearing earlier in the week and his case was considered at Sheffield Crown Court on September 10 in his absence.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, The Recorder of Sheffield, confirmed Mr Bestwick faces an indictment for murder and the judge scheduled a trial to take place from February 22, 2021. Mr Bestwick was remanded in custody.
Police had been called to an address on School Lane, Greenhill, Sheffield, following reports a woman had been assaulted and was taken to hospital but died on September 8, according to South Yorkshire Police.
