Sheffield community 'unite to say enough is enough' in wake of shock shooting of 12-year-old boy

A boy was shot in the leg while standing outside a shop with his friends on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, on Sunday afternoon.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
South Yorkshire Police said the boy was an innocent bystander caught up in a feud between two rival gangs.

Hide AdCouncillor Ben Miskell, representative for Arbourthorne ward, said: “The community in Arbourthorne are relieved to hear that police officers have arrested a 30 year-old male in connection to the shooting.
“Since the incident people have been scared and angry, but most importantly I’ve seen people unite together to say enough is enough. Arbourthorne will not accept violent crime in our area.
“While we are fully aware that more work is still to be done, we thank South Yorkshire Police for their ongoing support in this investigation, which will help to reassure the community that violent crime on the estate is being taken seriously.”
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Tuesday, January 14, as well as suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Hide AdThen, on Wednesday, January 15 a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Both men are currently in police custody.
