Police probe into Sheffield murder gathers pace after arrest

An 18-year-old Sheffield man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday following the death of 30-year-old Khurm Javed, who was also known as Khuram and Khurram.
The suspect was quizzed by detectives yesterday and remains in police custody this morning.

Hide AdMr Javed was shot dead in an alleyway off Clough Road, close to Bramall Lane, on Saturday, April 10.
Despite efforts to revive hi, he coul;d not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said he was shot following a ‘confrontation between two parties’.
Three arrests have been made so far as part of the police probe into the murder.

Hide AdTwo men, aged 21 and 23, were held on suspicion of murder earlier in the inquiry before being released under investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hakin said: “I would like to reassure the community that our investigation is progressing at pace and we are continuing to explore and develop new lines of enquiry.”
Mr Javed was a solicitor who worked for London Road-based law firm Alison Law Solicitors.
He was also a married dad-of-two, whose children are aged three and 18 months.

Hide AdHis cousin Haroon Tariq described him as ‘a devoted father and family man’.
Friend Farrakh Khan said he was a role model and mentor to law students.
“He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he added.
