Police launch investigation after 21 wild birds found dead in Sheffield suburb

The jackdaws were discovered by members of the Deepcar policing team and crime scene investigators during a search of the housing estate between The Grove and Wharncliffe Avenue today, August 1.
In conjunction with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), officers will now conduct an investigation to establish the cause of death and determine whether it is the result of a criminal act.

Hide AdThe jackdaw is a small, grey-headed, crow with pale eyes that typically nests in tall buildings and chimneys.
It is protected under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which states it is a criminal offence to “intentionally kill, injure or take any wild bird”.
Anyone with information that may assist in the police investigation is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 379 of August 1.
