Pedestrian fined for 'smashing driver's wing mirror in Sheffield'

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on February 26 how Jack Patrick May, 33, of no fixed abode, lashed-out at the wing mirror as the vehicle drove by near Eyre Street and Arundel Gate, in Sheffield, on January 18.
Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said the driver saw the defendant approaching and as he drove by May hit out and smashed the wing mirror.

Hide AdMr Coyne added the driver followed May towards Union Street before confronting and detaining him.
May, formerly of St John’s Road, Parkhill, Sheffield, admitted causing damage and failing to surrender to court during a hearing on February 13.
Miss Page, defending, said May, who suffers with anxiety and depression, perceived the driver had been close and he swung out.
Deputy District Judge Jane Hamilton fined May £50 and he must pay £50 compensation, a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
