Man carrying lifelike doll grabbed girl, 11, as she walked with four-year-old sister on Sheffield estate

The 11-year-old was with her four-year-old sister when they were approached by a man on East Bank Road, Arbourthorne, at 6.30pm yesterday.
South Yorkshire Police said the man grabbed the older girl around her waist but she screamed and was able to escape his clutches.
Both girls escaped unharmed and raised the alarm.

Hide AdThe man was pale, in his mid to late 30s, 5ft 6ins tall and wore a dark, oversized coat.
He is believed to have been carrying a lifelike doll, wearing a pink knitted hat, inside his coat.
Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: "This was obviously a very disturbing incident involving two young girls and we are making extensive enquiries to trace the man involved.
"We understand incidents like this are a cause for concern for the local community. I'd like to assure residents that we're increasing patrols and liaising with local schools to make sure people feel safe.

Hide Ad“I'd ask children and parents alike to remain vigilant, be aware of their personal safety and to report any suspicious incidents to the police.
"The children involved in this incident are now safe and well, and both they and their family are being supported by our officers.
"We are now asking for the public's help to identify the man."
