Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shooting in Sheffield

The 22-year-old was arrested as police swooped at a home on Derby Street in Heeley this morning, Thursday, May 28.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or harm, and he remains in police custody this afternoon.

Hide AdThe raid was linked to the ongoing investigation into a shooting at Farish Place, Heeley, on the night of May 14.
Police were called shortly before 10pm that evening and although there were no reports of anyone being injured, suspected gunshot damage was found to a road sign and a parked car.
Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: “This warrant is just one of the actions taken in disrupting on-going criminality in our communities.
“We are working round the clock to ensure that those who pose a risk to our communities are brought before the courts.

One resident had reported seeing armed officers descend on Derby Street today, where 11 police cars were spotted.
Today’s arrest comes after three men , aged between 18 and 42, were arrested in connection with an investigation into shootings on Fishponds Road, Woodthorpe, on Sunday, May 24, and on Myrtle Road, Heeley, the following day.
A 20-year-old man, meanwhile, was this morning arrested in connection with another shooting in Nether Edge on May 8, following a raid on Grange Crescent in Sharrow.
