Nathan Bray had previously been jailed in 2017 for sending sexually explicit photos to an undercover police officer who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Thursday, January 14.
But while he was out on licence for those offences, the 30-year-old made contact with a 14-year-old girl and again started bombarding her with sexually inappropriate messages.

The 30-year-old, previously of St Augustine’s Crescent, Chesterfield, and various addresses in Derby, appeared before the court via videolink from Lincoln Prison, where he is still serving the remainder of his previous sentence.
He first came before the courts in 2016, after making contact with a 13-year-old girl, where he again bombarded her with sexual images and pestered her for sexual images of herself - and arranged to meet her on Queen’s Park in the town and go back to his home for sex.
Prosecuting, Jon Fountain told the court that Bray had told his probation supervisor that he only had one mobile phone, but when police raided a former address they retrieved a further six, containing 26 indecent images of children.

“He asked her her age and she told him but that didn’t stop him from messaging her,” he said. “He called her ‘baby’ and ‘sexy bum’, and she described it as though he was her boyfriend.
“The majority of the messages were not overtly sexual but there were two suggestions that they should meet. On June 28 he also sent her two further messages after he knew that the police were now involved.
“On one message he said, ‘I will send you a d*** pic’, and a photo of his erect penis was recovered from her phone.”

He said: “The thing that runs through all the reports over the past six years is his immaturity.”
He said that since he was recalled to prison, the defendant has engaged in a series of education programmes, and was keen to work with professional bodies on his release to stop his offending.
Judge Steven Coupland sentenced Bray to five-and-a-half years in prison, and told him he must serve at least 30 months before he can be considered for parole. He will then spend three years on licence.

He also ordered all phones to be destroyed and placed him on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
