Gunman remains at large as man fights for life after shooting in Sheffield street

The culprit or those involved fled after a 21-year-old man was shot in his chest in Grimesthorpe Road, Burngreave, at around 2.30pm yesterday.
Witnesses have described shots being fired from one car towards another.

Hide AdTwo men seen shielding behind the car which was fired at then pulled an injured man from the vehicle into a nearby garden.
A carer from a care home ran into the street to give emergency first aid until police and paramedics arrived at the scene.
The injured man was taken to hospital and is in a critical condition today.
Detectives are treating the shooting as a targeted attack.
Seven men were detained at the scene but were later released with no further action to be taken.

He described the shooting as a ‘distressing incident’.
Police patrols have been stepped up in the wake of the gun attack.
They are expected to continue for a number of days as a form of ‘reassurance’ to local residents.
A police cordon remains in place today following the shooting as detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They are appealing for witnesses to the attack to come forward.
