Officers say the move will help them police the popular park, which has seen a stabbing and a youth brandishing a machete in recent weeks.
Investigations are continuing into the two incidents which were linked to an unlicensed music event on Friday, July 24.

Hide AdDetective chief inspector Jamie Henderson said: “I understand both of these incidents were distressing, especially at such a prominent and popular green space in our city.
“I also know they were witnessed by other teenagers and I want residents and parents to know that we’re responding robustly.”
It is hoped that closing the gates, off Rustlings Road, will block access for nuisance off-road bikes and prevent other anti-social behaviour.
The gates will remain closed ‘until further notice’.
