First pictures and video footage released after car explodes on Sheffield estate

Residents on Richmond Park Croft in Handsworth were awoken in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 19) after hearing 'bangs and pops’ from a burning car outside their homes.
Now, video of the scene has emerged showing firefighters battling to damp down the smouldering car after the flames have been extinguished.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police today confirmed they had received an anonymous call about an arson incident involving a vehicle on Richmond Park Croft last night.
They added no one was injured in the blaze and an investigation was ‘underway’.
A police spokesperson said: “We attended an arson in the Richmond Park Croft area at 12.30am after receiving an anonymous call.
“The fire service was in attendance. There are no further details available, but investigations are underway. No one was injured.”

Hide AdA spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters from Parkway were called to Richmond Park Croft, Sheffield, at 0.22am on Sunday 19 April.
“Upon arrival they found one car well alight. This was extinguished using a hose reel jet by 2am. It is thought to have been started deliberately."
