Cycling Sheffield: The 13 areas in the city where your bike is most likely to be stolen, crime figures show

Bike theft is surprisingly low in Sheffield compared with Britain’s other big cities.

But there are parts of Sheffield where you’re much more likely to have your bicycle stolen, as the latest crime statistics show – including one area where there were nearly five bikes stolen for every 1,000 people – more than four times the national average.

Overall, in Sheffield, between March 2022 and February 2023, the latest period for which statistics are available, 0.7 bicycles were reported stolen per 1,000 residents. That’s below the England-wide average of 1.2 and significantly below the figure for several other major cities, including Bristol (3.1), Leeds (1.6) and Liverpool (1.4).

Below are the areas of Sheffield in which the most bike thefts were recorded, from lowest to highest, based on figures from the Police UK website.
