A 24-year-old man was shot on Abbeydale Road last night and remains in hospital today.
The gunman responsible remains at large.
The incident is the latest in a spate of gun attacks in and around Abbeydale over recent weeks, including one just over a week ago in which a man was shot in his foot in nearby Harwell Road.

Hide AdBullets have been fired at homes in the area and a dog had to be put down after it was shot in another attack on Abbeydale Road in July.
Councillor Jim Steinke, who represents and lives in the area, said: “I went to the police at the scene of the shooting last night and they have the situation well in hand.
“This is another example of the dangers of having so many guns in the community, and how lives can get ruined by it.
“Can I plead with anyone who has information on this, to tell the police or Crimestoppers anonymously. I know that it may be difficult to inform on family, friends or neighbours, but it is for their benefit longer term, and for the whole community.

He added: “The real issue is that there is a collusion of people not co-operating.
“Theses are tit-for-tat shootings and it is more about who might shop who to the police rather than about drugs at the moment.
“The police are making arrests over this but the real issue is to get the guns being used out of circulation.”
