Hide AdInspector Ali Bywater, of the Sheffield city centre policing team, said: “During the month of May, we have seen an increase in commercial burglaries within the city centre.
“This coincides with the reopening of numerous businesses and licensed premises, whereby opportunistic criminals know that there is possibly a till float and other items back inside.
“Our proactive work around this continues, and that sees five suspects arrested in the space of a week. We are also starting some proactive work around target hardening to assist business premises in relation to their CCTV systems and to offer valuable crime prevention advice.”
