Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 15 how Ivory Coast national Charles Roger Ada, 45, of Headford Grove, Sheffield, is suspected of entering the UK illegally and allegedly pretended to be Nigerian and allegedly used false documents to get work.
Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said: “There are no Home Office records of Ada’s lawful entry to the UK and it is suspected he entered the country illegally and he has no rights to work.”

A further Nigerian passport was allegedly found at Ada’s home, according to Mr Coyne.
Ada faces charges including fraud by falsely representing himself as Nigerian to work in the UK between November, 2007, and January 2020, and two counts of possessing a Nigerian passport. Mr Coyne said Ada has indicated guilty pleas to the offences.
Tim Gaubert, defending, said Ada has contributed to society by doing a job in the laundry at a hospital and has paid tax, insurance and board for lodgings.
