Sheffield Crown Court heard on October 26 how Pashko Ali, aged 37, of Regent Street, Balby, Doncaster, assaulted his victim with two accomplices after the complainant had owed him money but had passed the cash to another man who was owed money by the defendant.
Anthony Dunne, prosecuting, said Ali repeatedly visited the complainant before he returned with two men and visited the shop of the man he owed money to but when the complainant arrived the defendant told him: “I will kill you like a dog.”

Hide AdMr Dunne said Ali swung keys at the complainant, catching him on the back of his head, before his two accomplices attacked and kicked the complainant as the keys were used to inflict wounds to his back.
Judge Michael Slater told Ali: “You caused an injury to the back of his head with a set of keys and two further puncture wounds to his back with the keys.
"He was also punched and kicked by your two accomplices who are not before the court.”
Husband and father-of-two Ali, who has a previous conviction for three offences of threatening behaviour, pleaded guilty to causing unlawful wounding after the attack on May 24, 2019.

Hide AdEdward Moss, defending, said: “He shows genuine remorse. These were actions totally out of character for him and he is shocked and ashamed of his behaviour and at the shame that’s been brought upon himself, his family and the community.”
The complainant stated: “This attack has greatly affected my life. I am constantly in fear and do not like to be in quiet places. I want to be surrounded by people all the time. I am also very depressed and nothing gives me optimism. All the time I am thinking he might have killed me.”
Judge Slater sentenced Ali to 18 months of custody suspended for two years with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, but warned him if he fails to comply or commits further offences he will “almost inevitably” be going to prison.
