Hide AdIt showed the best postcodes in Sheffield for first time buyers were S43 – Barlborough, Clowne, Inkersall Green, Staveley – and S66, which covers Bramley, Hellaby, Maltby, Thurcroft, Wickersley and Braithwell.
The study found that the average first time buyer’s budget in Sheffield is currently £193,243, meaning most first time buyers are searching for properties around £200,000.
The research also found that one in ten from Sheffield are now considering moving up to 25 miles away from their place of work due to being less constrained by the commute. With such variation in the numbers of available properties, it can pay to look further afield when prospective buyers are searching for their first home.
Taking the average first time buyer’s budget and combining it with the increased willingness to look further afield, Purplebricks created its heatmap of all its properties at this level and below - letting first time buyers see at a glance where the richest pickings can be found across the country:

Fleur Woodall, Purplebricks’ Local Property Expert for Sheffield’s S43 area, said: “There are a good selection of homes to choose from in this part of Sheffield, including a typical well-presented terrace home in the region of £90,000 to a two bed semi around £150,000.
"The S43 postcode covers various areas but in particular Clowne, Brimington and Whittington have central hubs with local amenities, doctors, shops and bars, giving the areas a great community feel.
“The S43 area has grown in popularity as many new home builders have been offering affordable accommodation in the area over the last few years. This has attracted people from Sheffield and further afield to the area. These people have then become sellers and stayed within the area due to children being in school.”

Hide AdSue Furniss, Purplebricks’ Local Property Expert for Sheffield’s S66 area, said: “S66 is an excellent place for first time buyers as there are affordable houses to suit their budgets. In Thurcroft particularly there have been quite a lot of new builds, and for about £40,000 less than a property only three to four miles up the road you can buy a four bedroomed detached house around £220,000, which is very desirable to first time buyers.
“There are some fantastic schools in the area, so it's a great place for any first time buyers who have a family or are looking to start one.”
