We are writing regarding the letter from Charlotte (Oct 2).
We understand that there may be some of our students who are unhappy that the merger of our school with Myers Grove is going ahead. Our students are rightly proud of their school and we understand that this is a big change which could make them feel
anxious.

There are, however, also many of our students who are excited about being the founder members of a new school which will offer them the most up-to-date facilities and the chance to go into the sixth form in their own school, something that none of the schools in our area can offer at the moment.

There are various ways in which our students can, and have, had their views heard in school – through our school council and in discussions in their form and year groups. Indeed, some of our students have already been involved in focus groups, visits to new schools and meetings with their counterparts in Myers Grove.

They can also make representation to the school's governing body through their council representatives and parent governors. I am not aware that Charlotte has chosen to take up any of these opportunities.

We would, in fact, question the genuineness of this letter as neither the executive head, nor the associate head have any recollection of the conversation which Charlotte claims to have had with us. In our view, this is another example of mischief-making by opponents of the merger and a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the situation.
