Blame smacks of desperation

IT is hardly surprising given the current economic climate that Government departments now seem to be reneging on promises made in much looser fiscal times (Schools rebuild £25m shortfall, Oct 3).
For Harry Harpham to try and gain political advantage by claiming that it is all the Liberal Democrats' fault that there will be a shortfall in funding for the city's Building Schools for the Future plans smacks of desperation.

However, if it is
true that the Government has seen fit to withhold money from our council because the Lib Dems tried to save a school (following the wishes of the electorate in Wisewood) then I view the Education Secretary and his department as petty and vindictive people.

At the next election I will also question whether I should give my vote to Labour if they feel the need to act in this way.

The issue is about democracy.
When the tories were in power in the late 80's, nulabor, as imposed by the blanket, ensured control of community groups. When these groups, in effect nulabor, said they did or did not want something, in opposition to government, the blanket claimed that the government was not being democratic. Now not only is the position reversed, but nulabor claimed in 1997 that it intended to devolve power. We have seen the lie of this over the past dozen years.
Whilst the LibDems have used the school issue as an electoral stick, they must also accept some local blame for making similar claims when previously in power, yet supporting the sham and illusions of their predecessors. The jury is still out with the current administration. This case does highlight another important issue that has been seen in Sheffield, and nationally, by nulabor. This is nulabor's policy of Control or Destroy. Again, the previous LibDem administration supported nulabor's policy. Petty and vindictive is an understatment.

I cannot say much here, But, Just to mention the name Blunkett in the same sentence as funding makes me remember Blunkett as Council Leader. The Student Games. Many other good idea's that were wrecked by Labours actions and their egotistical ways. Lib Dems would never get fairness now that was expected. As a left wing Labour Council and with Harry Harpham Blunketts main man in the Sheffield Council, Labour managed to bribe the electorate with funding, Grants, But now, we will see and hear less from Blunkett. He only comes out to take the credit as with the new school in Shirecliffe. Very soon we shall see the usual back stabbing and mud slinging in our Town Hall.

Has anyone ever been to one of these shows. They will come away laughing. I advise anyone that wants a good laugh to attend meetings in the Town Hall.

Wehave seen blame passed on to local groups and committee's when things go wrong. That is why labour wanted forums and area panels. The members of these are just puppets for the Council. Now Lib Dems are in control these same committee's find they have more problems and even less funding. We are also seeing many resignations from these local committee's. I wander why ? ? ?
