These watering holes of days gone by are sure to hold precious memories for those who drank there. Some remain popular places to drink, but with new owners and a different name, while others have been demolished or converted into housing or shops.
Among the pubs featured in this retro photo gallery is the once notorious Cannon pub on Castle Street in Sheffield city centre, which was described as a haven for thieves and drug dealers, and branded a ‘den of iniquity’.
