Sheffield's Covid infection rate rises as cases continue to fall across most of England

Another 765 people across the city tested positive for coronavirus during the seven days to February 20, giving a weekly infection rate of 130.8 new cases per 100,000 people – up from 121.7 the previous week.
It was one of just 51 out of 315 local authorities in England to record a rise in the infection rate, with more than 80 per cent seeing the number of cases drop during the same period.

Sheffield’s weekly infection rate is now above the England-wide rate of 119.9 and the rate for the UK as whole, which is 116.4.
Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, Doncaster’s weekly infection rate remained static, at 186.3, having previously risen.
The rate in Rotherham, which had been on the rise last week, fell from 221.2 to 182.7.
But in Barnsley, the rate rose slightly from 177.8 to 181.5.
