Coronavirus cases in Sheffield pass 20,000, but Covid-19 infection rate continues to fall

But new figures show that the rate of Covid-19 infections in the city is continuing to fall, with fewer than 400 new cases per 100,000 people recorded during the latest week.
There have now been 20,099 cases confirmed across Sheffield in total, according to the latest data from Public Health England.

Hide AdIn the seven days to November 3 – the latest date for which reliable data is available – another 2,307 people tested positive, giving a weekly infection rate of 394.4 new cases per 100,000 people.
That’s down from 2,609 new cases during the seven days to October 6 and a weekly infection rate of 446.1.
Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, there were 1,595 new cases in Doncaster during the seven days to November 3, giving a weekly rate of 511.4.

Rotherham’s rate is 503.4, while in Barnsley it is 538.0.
Across England, the latest weekly infection rate is 240.3.
