AN OFF-DUTY security guard viciously beat a prostitute to death then used a tree branch to assault her in an act of 'sexual sadism', a court heard
Mum-of-two Claire Laggan, aged 25, was then struck over the head causing fatal injuries, which could have been from a rock or stone, or by someone stamping on her, Sheffield Crown Court was told. Her body was then wrapped in bin bags and dumped in a
car.

She had been missing for almost three weeks when she was discovered on January 13.

Although her murder is believed to have happened at Denaby Craggs, her body was discovered close to playing fields next to Northcliffe Comp-rehensive and Rowena Infants schools, Conisbrough.

Andrew Gregory, 36, of Castle Well, Denaby, denies murder.

Prosecutor William Lowe said boots recovered from Gregory's home contained traces of Claire Laggan's blood. Samples of his and Miss Laggan's DNA were also discovered on latex gloves recovered from the scene of her death, along with a used condom with Gregory's DNA.

Gregory complainted to police last year that Miss Laggan, of Conan Road, Conisbrough, approached him asking if he wanted sex.
