Number of Covid-19 cases at University of Sheffield passes 1,000

Thirty-seven more students and two members of staff were confirmed as having the virus by Sheffield University on October 14, bringing the total number of cases to 1,058 since the new academic year began.
The latest data means the rolling seven day average of infections within the institution now stands at 44.4 for students and 1 for staff.

Hide AdFace-to-face teaching is currently suspended at the University of Sheffield, however it is due to resume on Monday.
The University of Sheffield, which has around 29,000 students and 8,000 staff, has said the safety of its students and staff remains a “top priority”.
It has taken a number of steps to protect the health of its university community, such as introducing one-way systems with clear signage to maintain social distancing, putting restrictions on class sizes in suitably spaced rooms, and implementing stricter cleaning regimes.
The university said: “We will regularly review these safety measures and arrangements in line with evolving guidance in order to continue to provide the high quality education our students expect whilst doing all we can to keep our University community as safe as possible.”
